Vintage 1970’s De Luxe Diver w/Tachy Dial,Warm Patina,Red Date Wheel,Runs FAST

***********The manual wind movement gains about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. The dial vacillates when the crown is pulled out, pushed back in and when the time is being set. Given these issues and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.*********** This vintage 1970’s De Luxe diver has a lovely glossy black “SWISS MADE T” signed tachy dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. The black fat font bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with no visible signs of brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF TESTED AT 180 FEET STAINLESS STEEL BACK ANTIMAGNETIC SWISS.” The inside of the case back is stamped “ILONA LTD” followed by “CASE SWISS MADE.” The crystal needs to be replaced. Despite the dial stating “17 JEWELS” the Swiss unadjusted “ILONA LTD” stamped manual wind movement has 21 jewels. This was not an uncommon occurrence with niche brands. The movement runs strong, albeit fast, and the red date wheel rolls over at 12 am. It does not have a semi-quickset date function. After winding the non-screwdown crown 26 full revolutions the movement gained about 5 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. Although the crown winds smoothly when it’s pulled out, pushed back in and when the time is being set the dial vacillates. Given this and considering that the movement runs fast a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18.75 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 43 mm. A complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
